Photo guide

A great photo makes a great portrait. Here is what works best.

Do

  • Face the camera, with both eyes visible
  • Bright, even light (daylight works best)
  • Sharp and in focus, taken recently
  • Only your child in the photo, or one face that is easy to pick out
  • The original photo from your phone or camera

Avoid

  • Sunglasses, hats or hands covering the face
  • Blurry, dark or heavily filtered photos
  • Face turned away or seen from far off
  • Screenshots or very small images

    The concept is lovely

The Modern Charcoal concept is creative, but the final composition did not suit our photo as well as I hoped. A few adjustments would improve it.

    Lovely portrait

The Modern Charcoal concept worked really well for our little companion. The finished canvas looks polished, though I would have preferred slightly richer colors.
