Photo guide

A great photo makes a great portrait. Here is what works best.

Do

  • Face the camera, with both eyes visible
  • Bright, even light (daylight works best)
  • Sharp and in focus, taken recently
  • Only your child in the photo, or one face that is easy to pick out
  • The original photo from your phone or camera

Avoid

  • Sunglasses, hats or hands covering the face
  • Blurry, dark or heavily filtered photos
  • Face turned away or seen from far off
  • Screenshots or very small images

    Good overall

The portrait has a fun concept and a clean finish. I like the Storm Sea Pirate & First Mate theme, but I would have chosen a slightly different crop.

    Beautifully made

A lovely interpretation of the two of them in the Storm Sea Pirate & First Mate style. The finished piece feels warm, imaginative, and genuinely gift-worthy.
